Program Philosophy
Kids need to be outside and moving their bodies! That is what summer should be about. On the move! summer camps are designed to do a very simple thing get kids away from the TV and video games and outside playing with peers. In addition to this, On the move! summer programs focus on teaching kids the important social/emotional skills required to successfully engage in cooperative and competitive activities.Fun in games and sports comes from testing oneself both in cooperation and in competition with others. To get the most out of these activities requires a complicated interplay of skills including: Cooperation, effective communication, fairness and physical and emotional self regulation. Just like reading and math these skills don’t just happen but are learned through teaching and practice. |
